This year I'm a coach for the 2024 Cincinnati Heart Mini-Marathon and Walk on Sunday, March 17.
My husband, Stephen, and I have participated in this event for many years. Each year, we joke about how it's probably going to rain or be the coldest day of the year. Heart issues were in Stephen's family, and the cause is important to us.
This year is different. It's more than "an important cause." We entered 2024 with one less member of our family having lost my mother-in-law to complications with her heart August last year. This year, we're honoring her, remembering her and taking a bigger role in the effort to bring awareness to the incredible work the American Heart Association is doing to save lives, so others don't have to experience what we did.
