I walk for my daughter and to help others like her who will benefit from the work that still needs to be done. Cora was born with a broken heart but through love, faith, and medical advancements she is a survivor. Her AVSD was repaired at 6 months old through open heart surgery performed by an amazing team of health professionals. At her 2021 cardiac checkup, tests revealed one remaining hole has closed and she continues to be able to live an active and normal childhood. I, my wife, and Cora's family are forever grateful for those before us who have worked and helped fund the efforts to make this a reality.
The AHA is committed to funding early-career investigators, whose work is vital to the future of heart and brain health. Funding for training and early-career investigators represents a substantial portion of the millions that we invest into research each year.
Since 1949, the American Heart Association has invested more than $4.8 billion toward scientific research, more than any other organization outside of the federal government.
Have a heart and with a small donation help support Cora and the efforts to create a future with even more survivors!
