I’m not just walking. I’m Heartwalking. My participation in Heart Walk promotes fun ways to be physically active, make healthier choices, and build awareness that stroke does not discriminate.
On September 22, I suffered from a rare vertebral/basilar artery stroke. It affected the entire right side of my body, my sight, my swallow and vocal cords. 85% of people that suffer from this stroke die. I had no risk factors and the symptoms of this type of stroke are not typical. Despite the odds, I am not only alive, I am rapidly recovering, due to my previous physical state and aggressive therapies. Thankfully my cognition was not affected, and I've been able to stay positive and find courage through prayer and supportive words of encouragement from my family and friends.
Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020. Please help me reach this lifesaving goal by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone. Join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
Thank you in advance for your support!
