WCH UR-Team Tyler is turning 4
Why we walk.” Our department has our own little heart hero- Mr. Tyler Combs, Baby T, Super T, just a few of this miraculous little guy’s nicknames. Tyler is the son of Emily and Dan Comb’s and the youngest sibling to three adorable sisters, Mara, Macy, and Lynna. Emily is a UR nurse in our department and works remotely every Friday covering the ICU. Tyler was born in July of 2018, with known down syndrome and congenital heart defects-AVSD, Tetralogy of Fallot, and a discontinuous left pulmonary artery. At 3 days of life Tyler had his first cardiac cath to have a stent placed in one of his arteries to supply oxygen to his left lung. Tyler had his first open heart surgery at 6 months old and complications lead to a second open heart surgery just 3 weeks later. It was a very, very, long road to recovery to say the least. In July, Tyler will be turning 4! In his nearly 4 years of life, he has battled more than most of us will endure in a lifetime, there really are not enough adjectives to describe how amazing our heart hero is. The Heart Mini event is the biggest fund raising event to help critical education and research to improve lives and save lives of any individual that has any form of heart disease including CHDs, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke. AHA is also rolling out many new programs, including educating our youth on dangers of vaping, obesity, early diabetes and heart disease.
