A little less than a year ago, our journey began with our Finn man. On a normal Tuesday morning, Finn went to church at school. Not long after— he passed out. Never having this happened before, we were quite alarmed so we took him to children’s for further testing. In the ED, they found something while performing an EKG. We were immediately referred to cardiology for even more testing. 

We had no clue what to expect during that visit— but we were stunned to find out Finn had a chronic heart defect. In fact— he was born with it. Somehow it was missed until now. 

In an instant, our football loving little man’s life would be forever changed. Major restrictions for the rest of his life— No contact sports. No wrestling. No lifting weights.

Finn is now and will always be closely followed by his cardiologists. Tons of tests. Tons of appointments. And honestly, tons of unknowns. 

Finn’s condition is stable— for now. At any point, it could decline— today, next week, 5 years from now, 15 years from now. Unfortunately, we don’t know what our future holds. It may hold many hospital stays, surgeries, tests, appointments, more tests, more hospital stays. 

This year we decided to walk in the American Heart Association 5k heart walk on March 17, 2024 for our Finn.
