Skylar is a fun and energetic 6 year old who was diagnosed with Catecholaminegic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT) in July 2024. CPVT is a rare genetic heart condition that affects 1 in 10,000 people. It causes sudden rhythm disturbances, called arrhythmias. These abnormal rhythms most often occur at times of high adrenaline levels, such as during exercise or strong emotions. If untreated, CPVT is highly lethal, as approximately 30% of affected individuals experience at least 1 cardiac arrest and up to 80% have 1 or more fainting spells. Sudden death may be the first manifestation of the disease as well.
It's our hope and mission to bring more awareness to this condition and to educate others of symptoms. Having a strong support system around that is trained in CPR can be the difference between life and death.

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this. Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today by joining our team or donating towards our goal. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
