Walking for a Stronger Heart - Luke's Journey
This year, I'm walking in the Heart Walk with my amazing son, Luke, who was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. At just 4 months old, Luke bravely underwent open heart surgery to repair his heart - and today, at age 5, he's thriving, full of energy, and lighting up the world with his joy and strength.
Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most common type of birth defect, affecting 1 in every 100 babies. TOF is a rare and serious form of CHD that affects the flow of blood through the heart, and without surgery, it can be life-threatening. Thanks to lifesaving research, skilled doctors, and early detection, kids like Luke have a chance to grow up strong and active.
We are walking to honor:
- Luke's journey and resilience
- The incredible doctors, nurses, and researchers who make survival possible
- And the millions of children and adults living with CHD
We walk with hope. We walk with purpose. We walk so every little heart has a fighting chance.
If you're able, please consider donating to our fundraiser. Every dollar supports lifesaving research, patient support, and education through the American Heart Association.
Thank you for being part of Luke's story.
With all our hearts,
Courtney, Karl, Luke, Levi & Link
