I walk because I know that with every step I take, I'm making a difference in my family's life.
My daughter Ashley has had Aortic Stenosis since she was 18 months old. We don't know how or why it happened, but we suspect it might have been caused by a high fever. Since then, she has undergone annual echocardiograms and continues to follow up with cardiac specialists. During her pregnancies, there were always concerns about potential changes. Thankfully, she lives in Houston, where the Maternal-Fetal specialists were very cautious and closely monitored her through various testing modalities. Today, she has two beautiful and energetic children, thanks to the knowledge gained from American Heart Association research.
