My mom (stepmom) has heart disease. Her heart stopped three times on the way to the hospital last year. I was told she might not make it and that I needed to call my dad. My parents live in Hawaii so its not something you can just drive there overnight.
She stayed in a coma for a long time. Her heart stopped several times while in the hospital. The doctors there were amazing though and managed to keep my mom alive. She stayed in the hospital from November till Christmas Eve.
My kids grandfather is another example. His is a little different but lets just say a Marathon running fool that he is, he would not here with us today without the help of CPR and a AED machine.
