I agreed to Chair the OK City Heart Walk 2025 because I personally know the impact of loss from heart disease. This photo is the last I have of my father and me (age 5) before I lost him to a heart attack at age 43. My mother and I were devastated and suffered emotionally and financially after his loss as we searched to create a new life of normalcy that took years. Our lives were changed forever! I know many other families lose loved ones from heart-related issues and stroke and I'm trying to raise funds to educate and train others how together we can fund research and save lives.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
