Every Step Saves a Life
We are all connected to heart disease and stroke in some way.
For me, it started with my uncle, who passed away from a heart attack when I was young. Then, in 2009, on Christmas Day, I lost my only brother—healthy as a horse—at just 52 years old to a sudden heart attack. More recently, my best friend suffered a heart attack but, thankfully, recognized the signs and was able to get emergency medical treatment before it was too late. And now… now, it’s me.
I have officially joined the fight not just as an advocate, but as a patient. I am under the care of a cardiologist for the rest of my life. While I don’t need any immediate procedures beyond the heart catheterization I had several months ago, I will continue to be monitored closely.
This is why I walk. Because every step taken, every dollar raised, helps fund research that saves lives—lives like mine, my brother’s, my best friend’s, and so many others.
This year we continue to push forward with a relentless commitment to ending heart disease and stroke. That mission won’t stop until these diseases are no longer a threat.
Have a heart—help me reach my goal today. ❤
