Heart disease and stroke have deeply affected my family, shaping my belief in the importance of research, education, and prevention. I've seen firsthand how devastating these conditions can be, but also how lifesaving treatment and care can give us more time with the people we love.
This Matters Because...
Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the United States. The American Heart Association is changing that story every day:
- They invest over $400 million annually in research for heart disease and stroke (more than any U.S. organization outside the federal government)
- Their efforts have helped cut cardiovascular death rates by more than half in the last 40 years
- Every dollar raised supports lifesaving CPR training, prevention programs, and innovative sciences that helps families nationally
