I'm walking (and running) this year for the Biggest Reason yet ever. While I have many VERY special people in my life who are affected by Heart Disease, and have lost a precious friend who lost his life far too early as a result of undetected Heart Disease, I lost my Father earlier this year suddenly, ultimately as a result of Heart Disease. It rocked my world harder than I could ever imagine possible. The What If's and the Why didn't We Know More or Do More constantly went through my mind. It still does. He was strong a horse otherwise and we all thought he was going to live to be 100. He died at 87. While he lived a very fulfilled life and we had a lifetime of special memories, it was cut short, in my mind.
I share these personal sentiments because I believe that knowledge is Power. Awareness is Power.
I am CPR and First Aid Certified, but that couldn't save my Dad or my Friend.
My hope is that everyone knows how to save a life if they can, however, my hope is that there is more efffort and money spent focusing on Preventative measures and ensuring people are aware of how Heart Disease can affect them and the signs to look for. ?
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers and create Awareness for those who need it.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.?
