I am participating in this heart walk not just for heart disease research and resources, but for my incredible nephew, Elias Lukas, and my sister & brother-in-law, Haven & Luke, who have faced unimaginable challenges with unwavering strength.
Elias was born with a severe continental heart condition, hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Elias has defined the odds for 255 days and counting. He is awaiting his perfect donor heart. He is symbol of strength, resilience, and fearlessness.
Every day, Elias fights for a chance at a brighter future. Every step I take is for Elias, to speak into existence the day he'll get his donor heart and finally come home for the first time.
