My participation this year is very different than anything I've done before. I'm walking for two reasons.
First, during the last 14 years of her life, my mom suffered almost 3 dozen strokes. I watched her face the life-altering challenges linked to her cardiovascular health.
Mom passed away last November and she is one of the reasons I'm asking for you to consider supporting my efforts.
My other reason for participating in this year's OKC Heart Walk is...well...me. I am now on the road of a lifelong heart health journey.
I was recently diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm. It is a life-risk for me and, sometime in the next few years, I will need an aortic valve replacement.
I have a wife, two kids and a wealth of friends and family that I want to enjoy for decades to come. I would be honored if you'd consider to support Mom, me and the American Heart Association.
