Like so many, I have been personally touched by the effects of heart disease. When I was 20 years old, my dad died of a massive stroke. We've missed him dearly in the 11 years since we've lost him.
The 2024 Heart Walk took place during my 30th birthday weekend, so I rallied friends and family to walk with me around Sloan's Lake in my dad's honor, and as a team we raised $1,000 for the American Heart Association! It was such a gorgeous day walking around the lake, and I was so grateful to have an excuse to talk about my dad with everyone.
I'm excited to be back as a team coach 2 years later, this time not only with friends and family, but with my amazing coworkers at Slalom!
I still walk for my dad, and now I also walk for a family member who underwent double bypass surgery shortly after the 2024 Heart Walk, and for everyone touched by heart disease and its complications. This year's walk takes place over Father's Day weekend, so I'll be glad and grateful to have an excuse to talk about my dad again during such an impactful event.
I invite you to join me for the 2026 Heart Walk on June 20th at Sloan's Lake in Denver! If you can't make it, please make a donation – even $5 helps a ton, and you can donate right from Venmo if you want!
Thank you for reading my story.
Best,
Tori
