In Honor of My Grandfather, Dr. Ali Muhammad,

This year, I am proud to support the American Heart Association Heart Walk in honor of my late grandfather, Dr. Ali Muhammad, a renowned cardiologist and pioneer in cardiovascular medicine in Pakistan.

My grandfather's journey began in a small village near Ludhiana, India, where his dedication to education and service led him to become one of the select students admitted to the prestigious King Edward Medical College in Lahore. Through hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to improving heart health, he went on to earn the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, as well as fellowships from both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Beyond his clinical achievements, he helped shape the future of cardiology in Pakistan. He was a founding member of the Pakistan Cardiac Society, served as its General Secretary, and was appointed Editor of the Pakistan Heart Journal, where he maintained the highest standards for advancing cardiovascular research and education.

Growing up, I was inspired by his legacy of service, innovation, and dedication to saving lives. His work helped lay the foundation for cardiac care in Pakistan, and his passion for improving heart health continues to inspire me today. That legacy is one of the reasons I feel such a deep connection to the mission of the American Heart Association.

Every day, the AHA funds groundbreaking research, advances lifesaving treatments, educates communities, and works tirelessly to prevent heart disease and stroke. Supporting the Heart Walk is my way of honoring my grandfather's lifelong commitment to cardiovascular health while helping ensure that future generations benefit from continued progress in heart disease prevention and treatment.
