We walk for Mark Shaw - we miss you!
In 2024, my father-in-law, Mark Shaw, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack while walking to check his mail. Mark was the epitome of a good, down-home country man. He loved working with his hands, tinkering on projects, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who meant everything to him.
Around 2015, Mark suffered his first heart attack. To give you an idea of the kind of man he was, he drove himself to the hospital, even passing one of his adult daughters' homes along the way without stopping for help. Stubborn, independent, and strong-willed, Mark faced life on his own terms.
It took some time for him to accept that changes were necessary to improve his health, but about a year later, he truly committed to taking better care of himself. He stayed on top of his doctor appointments, worked to take his medications as prescribed, and made an effort to build healthier habits.
Though we sadly lost him, his memory remains a constant presence in our lives. We continue to share stories about him, speak his name, and hold him close in our hearts. His legacy of hard work, love, and dedication to family lives on through all of us.
Today, my family and I walk in honor of Mark Shaw. We walk to remember him, to celebrate his life, and to keep his memory alive.
We walk for Mark Shaw. We love you, and we miss you every day.
