Why I Walk
Heart disease isn't something I read about in a pamphlet — it's something I live with every day.
I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, a condition that runs deep in my family. Heart murmurs, valve conditions — they're woven into our family history across generations. Growing up, I watched family members navigate the uncertainty that comes with knowing your heart doesn't work quite the way it should.
That's why I walk. Not just for awareness. Not just for a number on a fundraising page. I walk because the American Heart Association funds the research that keeps hearts like mine beating stronger, longer. Research that gives families like mine more time together.
This year, as AHA celebrates its Centennial, I'm proud to be part of the Executives with Heart movement — leaders committed to ensuring someone in every household is ready to save a life with CPR. Because when a cardiac emergency strikes, every second counts — and most people don't know what to do.
My goal is $5,000 — and every dollar funds breakthroughs that are literally saving lives.
Will you join me at the Heart Walk on November 14th in Austin? Or if you can't make it, will you donate and be part of the reason someone gets more time with the people they love?
Every gift — no matter the size — moves us closer to a world where heart disease doesn't get the final word. â¤ï¸
