2026 Coastal Bend Heart Walk
Kinesiology-Special OIympics
Islanders Have Heart
The Kinesiology–Special Olympics (KSO) Club at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi believes that movement has the power to bring people together, improve health, and strengthen our community.
Throughout the year, our students work alongside Special Olympics athletes, supporting opportunities for physical activity, sport, fitness, and inclusion. Whether we are practicing together, volunteering at competitions, or simply encouraging one another to keep moving, our goal is to help create a community where everyone has the opportunity to be active, healthy, and included.
This fall, we're taking that commitment one step further by participating in the 2026 Coastal Bend Heart Walk on Saturday, October 3.
Why We Walk
Heart health affects all of us—our families, friends, students, athletes, colleagues, and neighbors.
We're walking to support the American Heart Association's work to improve cardiovascular health, advance lifesaving research and education, and help people live longer, healthier lives.
But we're also walking for something that is at the heart of KSO:
Community. Inclusion. Health. And the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live an active and healthy life.
Islanders Have Heart
Leading up to the Heart Walk, KSO will also help host the Islanders Have Heart Cornhole Tournament on Tuesday, September 8, from 12:00–4:00 p.m. on the East Lawn at TAMU-CC.
The tournament will bring students, faculty, staff, and friends together for an afternoon of fun while raising funds and awareness for the Heart Walk.
Then, on October 3, we'll trade our cornhole bags for walking shoes and join Team TAMU-CC at the Coastal Bend Heart Walk.
