For those of you who don’t know my story, I was born with a congenital defect in my aortic valve. Mine was bicuspid rather than the normal tricuspid valve. I never would have known about it if I hadn’t decided to get a heart murmur evaluated before having children.

Years later, in 2020, it was determined that I needed an aortic valve replacement. During the height of COVID, I underwent surgery, completed cardiac rehabilitation, and was eventually able to become active again, just as I had always been.

This is one of the reasons I walk. â¤ï¸
