On April 8, 2026, my life changed in a heartbeat.
What began as a routine jog around the track ended with me calling 911 from a high school parking lot. Within hours, I was in the ICU, facing a diagnosis I never expected: heart failure.
I spent two days in intensive care and the next seven weeks wearing a personal defibrillator while doctors worked to understand what had happened. In the months since, I’ve seen cardiologists, pulmonologists, geneticists, and other specialists searching for an answer. So far, the cause of my heart failure remains unknown.
But my story is also one of recovery and hope.
My heart’s pumping efficiency has improved from 30% to 53%, just below the normal range. I’m incredibly grateful for that progress—and for the family, friends, medical professionals, and community who have supported me along the way.
My experience has also given me a new purpose. Heart disease can change a life without warning, and I am committed to using my story to build awareness, encourage others to pay attention to their heart health, and support efforts that give more people the chance to survive and recover.
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
Nine out of ten people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital don’t survive. Too often, no one nearby performs CPR. Together, we can help change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action—a small step, a simple skill, a lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins and every dollar donated helps support CPR education, lifesaving research, and a future where more people get another chance.
I know firsthand how precious that chance can be.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
