Why do I walk?
I walk to buck the trend of heart disease that has impacted so many members of my family. I inherited hypercholesterolemia and have been fighting to keep my cholesterol to manageable levels my entire life, primarily through diet and exercise. Doing so allows me to be a good role model for my kids who also lead very active lives. I also walk for my mom who has batted high cholesterol and her mom, who died at a fairly young age of heart disease. My mom wants to live long to see her grandkids grow and experience her great-grandkids and she works really hard to keep her heart health.
By walking, running or doing yoga to fundraise for the American Heart Association I am contributing to saving lives, funding education and research and getting out with my family in the community to make a difference. Join me in the fight against heart disease and stroke – together we will win this battle.
