The Beat Goes On
In July 2019 Larry struggled with 'indigestion' all morning. When Denise, his wife and retired RN heard his symptoms she was concerned and prompted him to call there daughter Hailey, an internal medicine doctor. After short discussion, they decided an ER visit was needed. His daughter Chelsea quickly drove him to the St. Lukes ER. On initial evalaution the physician was not overly alarmed, but while in the ER his heart monitor showed he was having an active heart attack (STEMI). He was rushed to the cath lab for life saving care by Dr. Banerjee. Lauren, Hailey, Chelsea, and Denise were all at his side after recovery.
Larry participated in cardiac rehab and has been encourged to continue walking by their boston terrier Pearl. He continues to take medications under Dr. Banerjees care. Dietary changes are always hard, but we continue to learn more as a family.
Heart disease runs in both Larry and Denise's families, in their fathers, Cecil Vincent and JW Delk. In fact, Cecil had one of the early cardiac bypasses and marked the day his "second birthday". On the day of his heart attack, Larry had some angels in heaven and on earth that protected his heart - and the beat goes on.
Please walk with us in honor of Larry and all our loved ones affected by heart disease. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide and stroke ranks second globally. Join our team to take a step to your own heart health. If you are inclined, donate today and help us change this statistic.
