As we continue preparing for the 2026 Tarrant County Heart Walk, I wanted to share a little about why this cause is so important to me.

Like many families, mine has been personally impacted by heart disease. My mother passed away after experiencing a heart embolism while also battling cancer, and I lost my great-grandfather to a heart attack. These experiences reminded me just how precious life is and how important awareness, education, and access to lifesaving resources can be.

That is one reason I choose to support the American Heart Association. Their work helps fund research, education, CPR training, and programs that give families hope and help save lives.

Another reason I choose to support is we were asked by French Thompson, General Director of BNSF to stand with them to make an impact.

Every person who joins the walk has a reason. Some reasons are visible and some are not. Some reasons are joyful, some are personal, some are painful, and some are private. Some will be about health, some about family, and some will be about community.

I'm curious – has heart disease or stroke touched your family or someone you know? Chances are many of us have a story. That is what makes this cause so personal and meaningful.
