The American Heart Association is important to me for a couple of reasons! First, as the CEO of the Montgomery County Hospital District, it is our mission to take care of all residents of Montgomery County and we are committed to providing extraordinary heart health. I see many people that should not survive but DO because of the emergency care provided by MCHD, the wonderful medical professions in Montgomery County and the research and work of the American Heart Association.
Second reason is that a year and a half ago I underwent a quadruple bypass surgery! My cardiologist says I’m very unique as I did not have chest pains or a coronary event but I did have four blocked arteries. If I had not had this surgery, I would have had a “widow maker” in 5 years! Before this happened, I did everything right. I ate the right foods and exercised regularly. And I am even more so determined to stay healthy now.
I’m very happy to have had the procedure done and for it to be done in Montgomery County. There is so much expertise in our community. The research and knowledge of the American Heart Association has allowed our medical professionals the resources to become the experts in their field. I’m very thankful to have the heart care and stroke care that is leading the country right in my own backyard.
