MY DAD IS MY WHY!
6 years ago, my dad felt dizzy. My mom, being a nurse, recognized something was wrong and took his blood pressure and pulse. His blood pressure and heart rate were lower than normal. My mom had my sister call an ambulance, and it took a while to stabilize him before he could be transported to the hospital. We found out that day, my dad had Bradycardia, which is a heart condition where the heart beats at a slow rate. My dad ended up having to get a pacemaker surgically inserted to regulate his heart rhythm.
However, in the past few years, this wasn't my dad's only episode of heart problems. My dad went into congestive heart failure twice. His heart wasn't pumping as it should have been. Thankfully, with modern medicine that the American Heart Association helps fund research on, my dad was able to go home both times.
Today, my dad's heart is better than ever!
I'm thankful and raising funds for the AHA, because without the research that AHA has funded, my dad wouldn't be here today. My dad was there to see me graduate college and to start a career. My dad was there to see my sister get married and have kids. My dad is here today for my family and for my future.
I'm walking in the Dallas Heart Walk in support of my dad. Not only making a difference in my family's lives, but in the lives of others participating in the Heart Walk.
But it's not just my efforts alone that will one day help us see a world free of heart disease and stroke. I am walking with a team of heart heroes because together, we will have an even greater impact. And you can help us change the world, one step at a time, by donating to my fundraiser, in honor of my heart hero (MY DAD).
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that keeps hearts beating and helps people enjoy longer, healthier lives. I can't do it alone.
Please help me now by donating. Because every step counts. And together we are helping save lives!
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
