In August of 2016, my mom, Joyce Taber had a serious stroke. In July 2017, my father, Oak Taber, died from issues caused as he tried to care for my Mom. In January 2018, Joyce died from secondary issues caused by her stroke. Prior to mom's stoke, my parents were active and in generally good health. Her stoke changed everything for all of us in the blink of an eye.
Her stroke was most likely caused by a small blood clot that occurred while she was experiencing atrial fibrillation. Her heart was not pumping in normal rhythm and it caused lots of little blood clots.
Stroke becomes a FAMILY issue. With continued research hopefully no other patient or family will have to experience the consequences of stoke.
