I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives. See my story below.
We're all tied to heart disease and stroke in some way. We have to change that. Will you help me?
Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
---------------------
One person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease. 1. In 2022, 702,880 people died from heart disease or stroke. That's the equivalent of 1 in every 5 deaths.
My reason for supporting this cause is impacted by that equivalent being, "4 in every 5 deaths" All 4 being immediate family members.
Father, mother, sister, grandfather, grandmother.
My why starts at age 4. My father, a healthy, non smoker, non drinker, youngest firefighter, Olympic diving contender passed away at age 25 from heart disease, having a heart attack right before his daily morning jog.
Approximately 5 years prior, his father passed due to the same disease. At age 20 my 7 year younger sister, passed from heart complications brought on by lupus, next was my grandmother and most recent was my mother who passed away 10/14/21 from a stroke after a receiving a quadruple bypass 5 1/2 years earlier.
They are all apart of me. My mission in life is to make a difference.
I treasure this opportunity to help raise money and awareness for a cause that I have had the opportunity to witness all the good that comes from it.
Thanks to the American Heart Association and the medical profession my sister, that was diagnosed with this disease since at 13, is living today. She has had 3 confirmed strokes and 4 confirmed heart attacks in that time. It is the support of organizations like this and the medical profession which gave her hope via her first stint at 24, followed by 2 pacemakers, 6 more stints, endless surgeries, medications and a watchman device implanted to prevent strokes caused by A-fib, she would not have been able to raise the 3 beautiful children she has today and bless so many lives. She is my hero.
Thank you for helping me support such a great cause that continues to make a difference in so many lives, like my sister and raise help awareness.
