Hi guys! Those of you near and dear to my family may be aware of my Dad’s heart issues, and this year my family is teaming up to help him fundraise for the American Heart Association’s Denver Heart Walk!
In July of 2009, my Dad had a cardiac arrest at the gym while my sister and I were at home. By some miracle, one of the three people there happened to be a doctor and immediately began CPR once he realized what was happening. 20 minutes later, my Dad’s heart started beating again. 9 out of 10 people who suffer from a cardiac arrest outside of a hospital don’t make it, and my dad was incredibly lucky. That same day he had an internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD) inserted, and along with three subsequent heart surgeries, it has saved his life an additional nine times.
In November of 2023, my Dad suffered from a severe stroke, most likely a result from a cardiac arrest from that previous summer. He was in the hospital for over three weeks and life has changed quite drastically for us. But, if there’s one man who can make the room laugh no matter the circumstances, it’s Mark Mead
I graciously ask you to donate any amount you can to help this incredible cause, or if you are unable to ask you take a look at the amazing work and research the AHA does and consider getting CPR certified! You never know when you could save a life!
