Hello all!
I've decided to do this walk for a a few personal reasons. Both my parents suffered major heart attacks. My dad had triple bypass and survived for a several more years. My mother, however did not.
I am turning 50 this year. I remember when my mother turned 50. She was diabetic, overweight, had high blood pressure and did not really take care of herself. I found myself following her same path. I decided to change that 3 months ago. I changed my diet and I started walking. I am now walking from 2 - 4 miles a day. I feel like walking has saved me.
So I'm hoping you'll see how important this is for me and help me reach my goal!
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
