I am not the sterotypical heart patient. Here is my story.....
Little backgroud on myself. I was 39 at the time, average weight (110 lbs), very healthy, never smoked, never did drugs, and literally sips of alcohol over the years. No family history of any health problems. Really never even get sick. Now my diet isn't the best but, that had nothing to do with my heart attack, I asked the doctors to make sure.
I was on my way to work and my heart suddenly stopped. Thank God for all the adults that were in my path to help me. After CPR and multiple AED shocks I had a faint heartbeat. I was rushed to the ER. Because I didn't have any brain activity I was put in a hypothermic coma to minimize brain swelling. All my tests and scans came back normal, no blockage. When I woke up from my coma I had no memory of what happened. The only damage done was to the apex of my heart.
Because of this being a freak thing and doctors not knowing what happened or why, I have a defibrillator implant now.
Please listen to your body. When you know or feel something isn't right, keep pushing until someone listens. I did not do this, which is why I ended up in my situation. I took the doctor's word and went home. I actually should have stayed at the ER and they should have kept checking my troponin levels. But, because I don't fit the "bill" of a heart attack patient they let me go.
