Why We Walk
2022 Tulsa Heart Walk
Cam and Rev: King and Queen of Hearts
Our team "Cam and Rev: King and Queen of Hearts" was created in honor of two very special heart warriors.
Cameron was born with tricuspid atresia and unbalanced AV canal defect. He undwerwent open heart surgery at 1 month and had plans for 2 more open heart surgeries. He unfortunately suffered cardiac arrest on 5/6/20 at 3 months of age. Cam changed those that knew him for the better and continues to bring good through raising awareness and support for organizations like the AHA.
Reveille is a 2 year old that was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). She has had 3 open heart surgeries and is happy, healthy, and THRIVING! She has plans for one more open heart surgery to complete her surgery series for her specific defect. Reveille is full of life and an example of what JOY those living with CHD bring!
Our families were brought together as we were crossing paths coming and going to OU Children's Hospital for surgery. These special babies brought a close friendship that began on mutual understanding of how challenging raising a baby with a congenital heart defect really was.
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide and stroke ranks second globally. Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most common birth defect in the US affecting 1 in 110 babies each year. Please join our team or donate today and help us change these statistics and outcomes for these children and adults.
The Heart Walk is a time of celebration, joy and inspiration. People unified in support of a single goal: to see a world free of heart disease and stroke. Please join our team and join us April 23rd in downtown Tulsa!
