Why We Walk
2022 Tulsa Heart Walk
As many of you know Christopher, “CJ”, was born with congenital heart disease. In his short life he has gone under anesthesia over 14 times, has had 3 heart surgeries and countless other procedures including back surgery for scoliosis and a feeding tube. If you have had the joy of meeting our little heart warrior, you know first hand how amazing he is. He is the happiest little boy who has enjoyed every moment of life to the fullest. He has the most amazing smile and is the strongest, most brave 9-year-old I have ever seen.
August 2018 CJ went into Fontan failure. His heart failure was complicated by plastic bronchitis. Due to the plastic bronchitis blocking his airway he suffered from multi-organ failure and a stroke. He was placed on life support and fought for his life. After spending 54 days in the hospital in Cleveland, CJ is surprising us all with his recovery. In June 2019, we traveled to Philadelphia where CJ had a lymphatic embolism, which has eliminated the plastic bronchitis.
We are so thankful for every day we are blessed with CJ. We know that the American Heart Association is continually doing research, perfecting surgeries and coming up with new options for kids like CJ.
We want to thank each and every one of you for your support and prayers for our son. We know that God is with him every step of this journey and has big plans for our little man!
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my righteous right hand.
