I walk for my grandfather, who in 2019 had a cardiac episode that could have ended his life. Luckly they were right by the hospital where life saving measures were taken. Part of those life saving measures was having a ICD surgically placed. ICD is a implantable cardioverter-defibrillator that is place in the chest. The device regularly checks the heart rhythm and delivers electric shocks when needed to restore a normal heart rhythm. Thanks to organizations like AHA that continuously research to improve the medicine and technology related to our heart health my grandfather will still be kicking for years to come.
I urge that you donate what you can. Every bit will help no matter how small. Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives.
I know that with every step, I am saving lives. With every donation we are helping fund the research that goes into medicine, technology, what skills are taught for effective CPR, and so much more.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Association, we will move health and well-being forward in important and critical ways. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
