I walk because I believe in the American Heart Association's mission — to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
I can't even begin to count the number of people in my life who have been, or know someone who has been, impacted by heart disease or stroke. This cause is personal to me, as I’m sure it is to you, and that's why I'm committed to making a difference.
Your donation, no matter the size, can help fund over 1,800 groundbreaking research projects that go beyond what you might expect. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, some of the most interesting research includes:
- Studying how cells and tissues sense and adapt to low oxygen levels, which is crucial for patients with COPD and advanced heart failure.
- Building the evidence needed to prove that "food is medicine" programs can effectively treat and prevent disease, with the goal of integrating these programs into health insurance coverage.
- Developing and testing postpartum interventions to support Black women with metabolically complicated pregnancies, addressing the role that structural racism plays in their food environments.
Together, we can help the AHA continue its vital work and make a real impact on people. Have a heart and help me reach my fundraising goal. Thank you all!
All My Love,
Sarah
