Life is Why! Join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
This is my 16th year. I'm not just walking. I'm Heartwalking. My participation in Heart Walk promotes fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices every day. Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
You ask me why? I have friends and relatives that had been affected by heart disease and stroke. I am walking in memories of Pamela Merriam's mom, Debbie, Pamela 's aunt Sylvia, my dear friends, Cynthia Chow, David Lee (Godfather), John Tom, Pastor Dale Barber and honor of those affected by heart disease and stroke (Mrs. Seto, Andrew Cha, RN, Cynthia Debets, RN, Rev. Rick Shinn) and I want to make a difference. No amount is too small. Give from the heart.
Research:
Over the past 50 years, USC has received more than $20 million in AHA funding for heart and stroke research.
Nationally, the AHA has invested $4.3 BILLION in research since 1949, second only to the federal government AHA-funded research has resulted in discoveries that have saved lives in every community in the United States.
The American Heart Association funds more cardiovascular and stroke research than any U.S. organization except the federal government. In all, AHA spend nearly 80 cents of every dollar on research, education and community outreach.
Stroke & Brain Health
About 8000,000 (approximately 795,000) people in the United States have a stroke every year, with about 3 in 4 being first-time strokes. That means that someone in the United States has a stroke every 40 seconds. Every 3 minutes 42 seconds, someone dies of stroke.
What's good for your heart is good for the your brain. The American Heart Association recommends following "Life's Simple 7" to achieve ideal health: don't smoke, be physically active, eat a healthy diet, maintain a health body weight, and control cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.
Please help me reach this lifesaving goal ($1,500) by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support! God Bless You Richly.
