Life is Why! Join me in supporting the American Heart Association!
I'm not just walking. I'm Heartwalking.
I'm a survivor. I was born with bicuspid valve aortic stenosis. I have survived heart failure, aortic valve failure, aortic aneurysm, TIAs, and a stroke. Living with heart disease has been part of my daily life since I was born, and it is something that will be part of my daily existance for the rest of my life.
Heart disease is the #1 killer. I am acutely aware of this fact as well. As I keep fighting for my heart health, I have lost many loved ones to heart disease along the way. All 4 of my grandparents passed away from heart disease and stroke. I have lost multiple friends over the years, including Cesily, who our team is named after, as well as my friend Casey who passed away, after having been able to get a few more years with his heart transplant, as well as my friend's son Bozzy, who we lost at age 2 after a lifelong battle with heart disease.
Just a few years ago, it hit very close to home when I found myself in the position of having to administer CPR to my father when he collapsed with a failing heart from viral cardiomyopothy. We were fortunate that he lived, and he is now able to walk with me at events like this to help raise much needed funds and awareness for heart health.
Imagine the impact if we reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020. Please help me reach this lifesaving goal by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
