At UCI Health—Fountain Valley’s Maternal-Child Health units, the heart plays a vital role in every stage of life—literally and figuratively. From the expectant mothers in Labor and Delivery to the tiniest of miracles in the NICU and the resilient children in the Pediatric unit and PICU, heart health is a central focus of the care we provide. For some, it’s a congenital abnormality detected in utero or soon after birth. For others, cardiac challenges arise unexpectedly, requiring expert attention and compassionate support.
As nurses and hospital staff, we walk alongside our patients and their families during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives. We understand the intricate care that heart conditions demand and the emotional and physical challenges faced by those we serve. Each heartbeat is a testament to their strength, and we are privileged to provide the expertise and compassion they need to navigate their journey.
We owe much of our ability to deliver exceptional care to the American Heart Association (AHA). Their evidence-based guidelines are the foundation of our high-quality care, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of medical advancements in heart health. From life-saving interventions to comprehensive support, the AHA’s dedication empowers us to make a difference in the lives of our patients every single day.
At the AHA Heart Walk, we walk not just for awareness but with deep gratitude—for the organization that helps guide our work and for the patients and families who inspire us with their courage. Together, we strive for a future where every heart beats strong.
