My nephew was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at his 20 week anatomy scan. He was born with Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome. At 2.5 months old he had his first open heart surgery, at 6 months he had his second and at 3 years old he had his final open heart surgery.
He is almost 9 years old and he is able to run and play and not worry about his oxygen levels.
I'm sure as his aunt I am biased, but he is the most incredible little boy, he has taught us so much about living life to the fullest and resilience.
