September 14, 2024 - the day that changed my life.
After four days of jaw pain and acid reflux, and being turned away from urgent care twice, my sister-in-law noticed something wasn't right. She didn't like how I looked or how I was breathing - so she called 911.
That call saved my life.
On the way to the hospital, I went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics gave me CPR for 4 minutes and used a defibrillator. As soon as we arrived at the ER, I coded again. Another 2 minutes of CPR. Then straight into emergency surgery, where they placed two stents in a blocked artery. I had a Widowmaker heart attack - the kind most people don't survive.
Because of the cardiac arrest, I now have permanent heart muscle damage and take blood thinners to prevent clots. But I'm alive. Only because my sister-in-law trusted her gut, acted fast - and because God said it wasn't my time.
This is why the Heart Walk on September 20, 2025 means so much to me. I'll be walking in honor of every second that mattered that day - and I hope you'll walk with me, or support the cause.
Let's raise awareness. Let's raise funds. Let's save lives.
