I walk because I know that with every step, I am saving lives.
I am a CHD Warrior. I was born with a congenital heart defect, I had an Atrial Septal Defect with an Atrial Aneurysm surgically repaired the summer between kindergarten and first grade.
Now I am a wife and mother to some who are at high risk for Sudden Cardiac Arrest and Sudden Cardiac Death due to family history of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. I refuse to let SCA win. It is my personal mission to ensure schools and schools districts have readily accessible and strategically placed AEDs; guarantee teachers, staff and volunteers receive proper training for CPR/AEDs; plan, practice and implement cardiac emergency response plans and schedule regular maintenance of all AEDs.
We're all in this together. It's time to lean in as a community to be sure our kids are safer at school. Will you help me?
This year, as we celebrate the Centennial of the American Heart Association, we will move health and well-being forward in important and critical ways. This relentless pursuit will continue until heart disease and stroke no longer exist.
Have a heart and help me reach my goal today.
Thank you!
