On June 9, 2024, my Mom died of a heart attack. I'm walking because I wasn't able to be there, or hold her hand, or say goodbye, or tell her that I love her. The walk is the manifestation of my guilt. The money is the band-aid I slap on my feelings. It's less of a walk and more of a performative grief march. Please, join me in the pointless endeavor of exchanging your hard-earned money for my circumnavigation of the Rose Bowl. Here is a list of Mom things to keep in mind:
- My brother and I accidentally shoplifted the canvas prints we displayed at my Mom's funeral.
- If I could choose a last meal, it would be watching my Mom make bacon/eggs/syrup for herself and Arthur.
- Can't be 100% certain, but I think the last movie my Mom watched was PLANE. (Yikes)
- I regularly use my $9,000 McDonald Funeral Home reusable canvas shopping bag to give off Hot Goth Chick vibes at Albertsons.
- Bonus things: Large regular decaf. Never pumping your own gas. Legal clam chowder with oyster crackers. Merit Ultima 100s. Strawberry ice cream with jimmies. Estée Lauder Beautiful. Rice Pilaf.
Miss you Mom! Love you!
