The AHA walk is for both awareness for cardiac arrests / heart attacks and strokes.
I am walking for Dean Shepard. My husband had his first stroke in 2021, and a second stroke in 2025. He passed away July 10, 2025. I never knew the impact that a stroke on one's quality of life. Everyone is different. I hope that more people will take the time to understand their own risks ~ and how to help yourself and others around you.
The American Heart Association (AHA) plays a crucial role in stroke prevention, education, and awareness, emphasizing that many strokes are preventable through lifestyle changes and risk factor management.
Stroke Prevention Guidelines
The AHA, in collaboration with the American Stroke Association, has recently updated its guidelines to help prevent strokes throughout a person's life. Key recommendations include:
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
