Participating this year in the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk is important to me. The devastating effects of heart disease and heart defects have personally affected a number of my family members. My mother and grandmother suffered heart disease and my son Jacob has a congenital heart defect. The American Heart Association has always been there for our family providing support, information, and research through the years.
I am participating on my son, Jacob’s, team. To ameliorate Jacob’s heart defects, he has had 2 open heart surgeries, one as an infant and another as a young adult. A third surgery may be on the horizon and the innovative research and bold initiatives being done now by the American Heart Association could make a huge difference to him and to so many others suffering from heart defects and disease.
Are you with me in making a real impact on the health of our community? Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can make a differentce.
