Why I Walk: My Heart Story
I went in for a heart scan expecting it to be routine—something to check off the list, maybe a little data to feel good about. Instead, I got a wake-up call: my calcium score was surprisingly high. It caught me completely off guard.
I thought about my grandmother, who died from a stroke at 61. I hadn’t really connected her story to my own health before. But suddenly, it felt very real. So I saw a cardiologist, asked all the questions, and started taking steps to protect my heart. What shocked me most? That heart disease is the #1 killer of women—far more deadly than breast cancer. Why don’t more of us know this?
So now I walk. I walk for awareness. I walk for prevention. I walk because I want to be here for decades to come, living fully and helping others do the same.
