Dear Friends and Family,
I hope you are well and enjoying your summer.
As you may remember, over the past few years, I’ve become increasingly involved with the American Heart Association (AHA) as a member of their Heart Walk Board for the SF Bay Area after serving as Executive Champion for Charles Schwab. This year, I am proud to say that with my involvement, Schwab expanded our partnership with the AHA to become a national sponsor and have employees contributing and participating in AHA Heart Walks in multiple locations across the country.
As a board member, I’ve seen firsthand how much of an impact the AHA has on the health and wellness of our communities. During the pandemic, the AHA redirected funds to focus on research to understand COVID19 complications and helped with relief efforts, especially in communities that needed it most. Today, the AHA continues to focus on its commitment to driving equitable health impact through key priority areas such as hypertension, tobacco and vaping amongst teens and adults and nutrition security.
For those of you who like the numbers, this is an organization that makes a big impact…
- $4.8 billion invested in research funding since 1949 - more than any non-profit organization outside the federal government;
- 15.1% reduction in deaths from heart disease since February 2018;
- 12 million people reached by Nutrition Improvement in 44 communities;
- 19+ million patients benefiting from a quality care initiative for high blood pressure; and
- 22 million people trained in CPR every year.
I am kicking off my personal campaign to raise $15,000to support the AHA mission. If you can, please support by making a tax-deductible donation.
Thank you as always for your support and I hope to see you again soon.
With gratitude,
Neesha
