On April 4, 2025, our family suffered the unimaginable loss of our son, Michael, who unexpectedly passed away from a widowmaker heart attack at the age of 35. Saying that we miss him dearly would be an understatement. Although it is impossible to convey how much Michael meant to us, his presence is greatly missed, and he will forever remain in our hearts. Michael was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and friend to many. He was a beautiful soul, blessed with a radiant personality and an incredible ability to connect with everyone he encountered. His smile and laughter were so contagious that he could brighten even the darkest room. Michael was in his prime. He was devoted to his career, community endeavors, friends, and family. Michael was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and collegiate football (Go Sun Devils and Hawkeyes!), but above all, his greatest love was for his amazing wife, Alex, and their daughters, Luci and Lili. In loving memory of Michael, Alex has organized the McLeran Marchers to honor his legacy of community, connection, and living with joy and generosity. Through the efforts of the McLeran Marchers, we hope to carry forward Michael’s spirit of love and giving by helping reduce the number of families that live with loss related to heart attack and stroke. Outside of a hospital setting, widowmaker heart attacks have a survival rate of only 12%. By raising funds for the American Heart Association, we aim to support their life-saving research and educational programs that can help change these odds—and prevent other families from experiencing similar tragedies. Together, we can save lives. Thank you for your love and support!
