I am alive today thanks to the gift of a stranger. Six years ago, a heart transplant gave me a second chance — a chance I honor every day through discipline and a commitment to staying healthy and present for the people I love.
On April 18, I will be walking in the Southern Arizona Heart Walk in memory of my donor, whose generosity continues to shape my life. This is an individual effort, but not a solitary one. Friends, family, and members of my transplant community may join in person or in spirit, each carrying their own story.
For me, this walk is a way to express gratitude, raise awareness, and keep moving forward with the heart that I have been entrusted to honor.
My Ask
I’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,000 for this year’s Heart Walk. I am posting on Linked In because it is the only social media platform I use. Many of you have not heard from or seen me in years and so may feel justified in ignoring this request. I ask your forgiveness and donation no matter how small.
If supporting me or the larger cause speaks to you, I would be honored to have you walk alongside me in spirit. Every contribution, large or small, helps the American Heart Association continue the work that made my second chance possible.
