For over 18 years, I have stood at the bedside in Emergency and Critical Care units. I've seen the "1 in 4" statistic-the reality that heart disease and stroke claim a life every few seconds-not just as a number on a chart, but as faces, families, and high-stakes moments in the ER.
On April 18th, I'm stepping out of the clinical setting and onto the pavement for the 2026 American Heart Association Heart Walk. I am walking to transition from treating these conditions to preventing them. The funds raised go directly toward:
Life-saving research that improves clinical outcomes and survivability.
Public health education to catch risk factors before they reach the ICU.
Support for survivors as they navigate life after a cardiac event or stroke.
Im raising funds to help ensure that fewer families have to experience those "critical care" moments.
